Plan and implement comprehensive Child Life services. Responsibilities include: Provide preparation, and facilitate adaptive coping strategies for patients and families for medical procedures and other health care experiences. Provide education and emotional support to patients and families; advocate and communicate patients/families needs to multi disciplinary staff; provide education related to child development and impact of hospitalization; supervise and train students and volunteers. Perform other related miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Child Development. Child Life specialization preferred. Must possess or be eligible for professional certification from Child Life Certifying Committee as a Certified Child Life Specialist (C.C.L.S.) With eligibility, must secure certification within one year of employment and maintain. Minimum two years clinical experience functioning as a Child Life Specialist preferred. Current Health Care Provider BLS training is required.
