Responsibilities:

Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the entire Loss Control (Risk Management) department and programs while conducting on-site risk assessments on large, multi-faceted accounts, involving various lines of coverage.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the NIIC Loss Control department and be responsible for the professional development of the team. 
  • Conduct periodic file audits to maintain consistency and identify areas of further training or improvement needed. 
  • Participate in group captive semi-annual meetings for programs where NIIC's Loss Control department has been selected to be the exclusive provider of loss control services.
  • Manage vendor relationships and services.
  • Work cooperatively with Commercial Lines Management so that we provide excellent service to our policyholders.
  • Manage account service plan proposals, bids, renewals and actual services performed. 
  • Manage renewal audit criteria. 
  • Assist in creating a more paperless filing system.
  • Create a Loss Control training manual and safety presentations.
  • Handle state compliance issues related to delivery of Loss Control services and Workers' Compensation policyholders.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university required.  
  • Minimum of seven years extensive transportation field safety experience.
  • Insurance industry knowledge, risk management/loss control knowledge ideal.
  • Possess extensive working knowledge of DOT & OSHA regulations.  
  • Possess extensive working knowledge of industry terminology, practices, and procedures within the loss control field. 
  • Previous trucking industry experience ideal.  
  • Previous supervisory experience ideal. 
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and policyholders. 
  • Ability to act as an ambassador for National Interstate.
  • Overnight travel required up to 50%
